Map and match
A new tool to leverage and adapt existing digital tools to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic
The aim of Map & Match was to understand the landscape of existing, adaptable software tools used at scale in countries and to subsequently match those tools with potential use cases for COVID-19.
The project was led by Digital Square, a PATH-led initiative funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and a consortium of other donors.
As part of the project a number of visual briefs have been developed for the 22 prioritised countries, all of which are in Saharan Africa and Asia. The briefs identify the tools currently in use in the country, the tools that have already been used in the country’s COVID-19 response as well as opportunities to adapt existing tools across COVID-19 response use cases.
The briefs reflect data collected via a desk review, surveys, and in many cases, key informant interviews with ministries of health. And before the project narrowed the scope to validate and collect additional information for the prioritised countries, data was collected from over 130 countries.
